About the Maker

Founded by Sophia Elouise, Function & Form is a sustainable practice upholding traditional techniques to create natural, utilitarian pieces for slow living. Trained in fine art and joinery, Sophia designs and makes every piece in small batches from her studio in North Yorkshire, bridging the two disciplines to create objects that are as sculptural as they are practical. With a background in stone carving, metalwork and joinery, Sophia is drawn to the natural benefits of wood and other materials in the home - pieces designed to be enjoyed for their beauty as well as their everyday usefulness. She works with sustainably sourced hardwoods that would otherwise go to waste and brush fibres chosen for being low-resource and biodegradable.
